Kate Wyatt's July 10, 2004 Newsletter
Two weeks to go!School is out, summer is here, and I'm comin' home. Everyone in my class graduated, the final report card was given out, the pinata was busted, my classroom is clean (for the most part), and I'm on vacation. Not really. This week I helped with a team from Nashville who held a VBS for the entire town of Corozal. By the last day, I think they had over 600 children in attendance. What a week! This week, I'll be helping two teams from the states with a tutoring ministry in the village of San Narciso. Next weekend a team from my church, St. Matthew's Episcopal and All Saints PCA from Richmond, VA will be here in Belize for a week of construction and VBS ministry. I am very excited to see some familiar faces again, and I am also looking forward to working with such a great group of people.
In my preparations to return to the states, I have been looking for a job teaching preschool with a few leads so far. It has been raining all morning here, so I got one bag packed to go home with only my clothes left to put in another suitcase.
Preparing myself mentally to return home is a whole other story entirely. I have so many mixed emotions about returning to the states, and yet God has made it perfectly clear what He wants me to do. I'm not sure why at this point He wants me to go home, but I know with all my heart that the peace I felt after making this decision was like no other I've ever had. Even though I am unhappy to have to leave relationships built, and anxious about returning to life in the fast lane, God has His purposes, right?
I can't wait to see my family and friends again, so I am also very excited about coming home. Plus, do you know how long it's been since I've had good ice cream? Too long.
Things you can pray for:
- Pray with me about not only finding a job, but finding a place where I can start my career.
- Pray for Arnie and Nancy Gustufson, Carla Cobb, Alex and David, and all the other associate staff who work so hard to coordinate the summer teams from the US this summer.
- Pray for the St. Matts/All Saints team of 45 people who is preparing this week to come to Belize for a week of sweat, laughter, hard work, and worshipping God.
- Pray with me about my transition back into life in the US.
This is my new email address that I am using now and when I return to the US: mkinbelize@yahoo.com. You can reach me here, or you can call if you felt led to do that: 011-501-604-6103
To all my supporters: Thank you, thank you, thank you. I couldn't have done this without you. Whether you supported me financially or prayerfully this year, you have been instrumental in my ministry here. Thank you.
